Douglas K. Semivan - Biography Douglas K. Semivan is a studio artist and educator who was recently appointed to the rank of Professor Emeritus of the Art Department at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. Douglas Semivan has been a Visiting Artist at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI; Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI; Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA; and Olivet College in Olivet, MI. Mr. Semivan received his B.A. from Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan in 1971. He received his M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in 1973. Prior to his current teaching position, Mr. Semivan’s working experience includes: Instructor of Lithography at Vancouver School of Art and Wayne State University, and he was the Director of the Detroit Artists Market in Detroit. Mr. Semivan has works in the permanent collections of several museums, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Detroit Institute of Art; Brooklyn Museum; Toledo Museum and the Grand Rapids Art Museum. His works are also part of the collections of several corporations - Ford Motor Company; Wm. Beaumont Hospital; City National Bank; IBM Corporation and Max Factor headquarters in NC. Douglas Semivan lives and maintains a studio in Royal Oak where he has lived for the past thirtyfive years.
