My name is Joe Johnson and I live in Beaufort, South Carolina. I’m a self taught acrylic painter and for the past 20+ years I’ve been painting mostly landscapes of the Low Country of South Carolina and city scenes of Chicago where I grew up. Early 2017 I found acrylic pouring and it was just what I needed to rekindled my excitement about the possibilities. What I love about this technique is that I can pick my paint colors and pouring mediums but when I pour the assembled recipe on the canvas the outcome is out of my hands – love the randomness of the process – I couldn’t recreate any of my paintings – each one is an original.
