Jane Armstrong is an established BC Artist residing in West Vancouver where she has her studio. Jane started her career in 1992 and as of 2003 she started painting full time. She is an active member the Federation of Canadian Artists and the North Shore Artists Guild. Jane originally worked in watercolour then transitioned into oil and now works primarily in acrylic. Her work would be described as Contemporary Expressionism. She has received numerous awards over the years. Her work can be found in Corporate Collections at Rescan
Environmental Services, David LLP Legal Services and Fes Mobiliy. She also has her work in private collections in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Bermuda, England, Sweden, Bermuda, California, Colorado, New York, Hawaii, Alberta, Ontario and B. C.
Jane has traveled to Africa and extensively in Europe and has been inspired by the warm earthy tones of France and Italy, very different from the refreshing cool and subtle colours of B. C. Her work is big, bold, colourful and textured and her painterly brushstrokes come through in a free and unencumbered way expressing the artist's emotions.
“I am the happiest in my studio, listening to music and creating a piece of artwork, with the dogs lying around passing judgement. I find that art comes from the soul; I am passionate about colour, shape, texture and form and incorporate that into my paintings. I love the simplicity of shapes. I am not afraid to experiment with different techniques and because of this my work is constantly evolving. When I paint I get lost in my artwork, it can take on a life of its own and time passes unnoticed. It’s very meditative; I am at peace in my studio. I paint in acrylic for its versatility and quickness of drying.”
